The Icicle Fund Youth Board

The Icicle Fund Youth Board’s mission is to award grants to help Upper Valley young people develop and carry out projects that benefit the community by advancing the arts, promoting our area’s social and natural history, and/or protecting the environment.

The Youth Board was founded in September 2003 by the Icicle Fund, in partnership with the Cascade School District, to:

  • Increase youth awareness and knowledge of the Wenatchee River Watershed
  • Increase youth involvement in efforts to protect, care for and celebrate this area
  • Provide a means for youth to understand and participate in the practice of philanthropy
  • Provide youth with leadership opportunities and responsibilities.

The Youth Board consists of students from the Icicle River Middle School and Cascade High School. The students serve one-year terms that are renewable. Three non-voting adult advisors also participate in the board's meetings and activities.

Youth Board grants are awarded to:

  • Are planned, written and carried out by one or more students, supported by an adult advisor
  • Protect the environment, advance the arts and/or promote understanding of our area’s natural and cultural history
  • Are associated with a school or other nonprofit community organization
